Cantina Colli del Soligo is a growers' cooperative at Solighetto, in the ridge-and-valley hills between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene that UNESCO added to its World Heritage list in 2019. Thirty-one Prosecco growers founded it in 1957, and it now takes fruit from around 600 members farming more than 1,200 hectares, roughly 85 per cent of it Glera. The range covers Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG, Asolo Prosecco DOCG and Prosecco DOC Treviso, alongside still wines and a small line from fungus-resistant varieties.
Veneto
The cooperative began in 1957, when 31 growers around Solighetto pooled their fruit under the first president Francesco Canella and director Antonio Tomasi. The first bottle, a Prosecco labelled Villa Maria, followed in 1959, a grape collection centre at Arcade was added in 1962, and in 1969 the Prosecco produced in the 15 comuni between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene won its DOC. Membership grew steadily from there, which is the point of a cooperative in this landscape: the hills are steep, the plots are small, and few families could finance a modern cellar on their own.
Today around 600 member growers deliver from more than 1,200 hectares, and the cellar handles about 15,000 tonnes of grapes a year. Glera accounts for roughly 85 per cent of that intake; the rest is Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Raboso, Pinot Nero and Cabernet Franc. Sales passed 10 million bottles in 2016, a robotised warehouse went in during 2013, and the winery runs its own analysis laboratory alongside the bottling line.
The setting explains the wines. The cellar sits at the foot of the hill amphitheatre crossed by the Strada del Prosecco e dei Vini dei Colli Conegliano Valdobbiadene, about 50 km from Venice and within sight of the Prealps. Rock close under the topsoil and air moving down off the mountains keep humidity low on these slopes. Conegliano Valdobbiadene became Italy's 44th DOCG in 2009, and ten years later the hills themselves were recognised by UNESCO.
The range is organised in lines rather than single estates. Solicum holds the top cuvees, including a Metodo Classico brut and two millesimato bottlings of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG. Col de Mez is the broader DOCG selection: Cartizze Extra Dry, two Rive di Soligo millesimati, Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore in Brut and Extra Dry, two Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG bottlings and a rose. Prosecco DOC Treviso covers the everyday tier, including an organic Brut, while the still wines run from Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay to Levigato Pinot Nero, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. A separate Resistenti line bottles Souvignier Gris as Veneto IGT and a Johanniter sparkling brut, both from crossings bred to resist fungal disease.
Certification is where a cooperative of this size shows its hand. Colli del Soligo holds an Equalitas sustainability certificate for its organisational model and is registered under SQNPI, the Italian integrated-production scheme, alongside ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, BRC and IFS. All of its sparkling wines have been vegan certified since 2017, an ICEA organic certificate covers the organic line running beside conventional production, and the first sustainability report was published in 2025. The bottles listed here come mainly from the DOCG and Prosecco DOC Treviso tiers, with the Marca Trevigiana and Veneto IGT still wines behind them.
