Our Story · Est. 2017

The UK's home for Italian wine.

We are a small editorial team translating Italy's 20 wine regions for British wine lovers. Independent, inventory-neutral, unapologetically in love with the subject.

Hello, wine lovers. We are the team behind ItalianWines.co.uk. We believe there's a need for a platform that talks not just about wine in general, but focuses on Italian wine, which people across the UK have been quietly enjoying for decades.

Italian wine is the most varied, opinionated, and historically tangled wine landscape on earth. It is also, frustratingly, the one most often reduced to clichés in English-language coverage: "easy-drinking Pinot Grigio", "house Chianti", a generic "Prosecco". So we sat down, with a glass of something serious, and started writing the resource we wished existed.

What you'll find here is a digital sommelier: a place to discover the wines you've never tried, understand why they taste like they do, and (when you're ready) find them on shelves at UK retailers you already know.

"Our project started under the stars in Puglia in 2017, sipping wine with friends. We realised what we needed back home didn't exist, so we built it." The Editors

Our Mission

Help you understand everything that is Italian-wine related, without the snobbery.

i.

Passion

Wine, and anything Italian, is what brought us together. It's also what we aim to reflect in every article, region guide, and tasting note we publish.

ii.

Authenticity

Authenticity, for us, means showing our true and honest opinion. We don't accept payment for editorial coverage. We do earn affiliate commission on some outgoing retailer links, but it never affects what we recommend or how we rank shops. Trust is the whole product.

iii.

Simplicity

Wine is complicated enough already. We aim to translate it (region, grape, classification, label) for everyone, without dumbing it down.

Our Content

Written by sommeliers. Edited like a magazine. Free for readers.

Our content is written by experienced sommeliers who have spent more than a decade in the industry. Writing about food and wine is something we take very seriously. That's why we started the site in the first place.

Our tone aims to be simple, friendly yet insightful. Educational first, commercial second. We never accept payment for editorial coverage, and our retailer links are inventory-neutral: we don't favour one shop over another. Some outgoing retailer links earn us a small affiliate commission; that revenue keeps the lights on and never sways what we recommend. If you ever have a question about the quality of what we publish, please get in touch.
