Alois Lageder

Alois Lageder is a family winery in Magrè, the most southerly wine village in Alto Adige. The sixth generation now runs it with about sixty partner growers who follow the same farm standards. The home vineyards have been farmed biodynamically since 2004. Löwengang Chardonnay and Krafuss Pinot Noir lead its single-site wines. Each spring the family hosts SUMMA, a wine fair that has run for almost three decades. The estate also has a certified organic restaurant and a Renaissance palace for events.

About Alois Lageder

The cellar is at Tòr Löwengang, a site the family bought in 1934 on the wine route through the valleys around Magrè. The village is also called Margreid in German. Three siblings from the sixth generation now run the firm. Alois Clemens leads the cellar, farming, sales and finance. Helena heads marketing, speaks for the winery abroad and runs Paradeis, its wine bar, restaurant and event site. Anna leads events, including SUMMA. This yearly fair has brought wine makers from many countries together for almost three decades.

The home vineyards converted to biodynamic farming in 2004. The first certified wines followed in 2008. Around sixty growers across Alto Adige also sell grapes to the estate. It took thirteen years to bring all partner vines into certified organic farming or the same system used at home. That work was complete for the 2024 harvest.

The first part of the range covers classic Alto Adige wines. It includes Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Lagrein. The Compositions mix fruit from many sites, vine ages and picking dates. They also use more than one way to make the wine. This gives a wider view of each grape. The estate calls its most site-led wines Crus. They show the soils and climate of each plot more closely. LÖWENGANG Chardonnay and KRAFUSS Pinot Noir lead this group. Misto Mare, Rosso Mosso and the COMETS give the team more room to test new ideas. All still draw on Alto Adige.

Visitors can see more of the estate at the Vineria & Osteria Paradeis. Its certified organic restaurant serves seasonal food with Lageder wines. The nearby vines and farm show how the family treats the whole farm as one living system. Guided visits take in both the vines and the cellar. Close by, Casòn Hirschprunn hosts weddings, business events, private parties, photo shoots and film work.

The address places Lageder at the southern edge of Alto Adige. The 2004 farm change, its range and the long-running SUMMA fair all shape its role in the region.
