Corte Medicea is the Tuscan arm of La Bollina, the Piedmontese family operation better known for Gavi DOCG and Monferrato wines from its Serravalle Scrivia headquarters. The Tuscan estate sits around Suvereto, a hilltop village in the Alta Maremma of Livorno province, just inland from the coast and a short drive south of Bolgheri.
The Suvereto vineyards work in a different register from La Bollina's Piemonte plantings. Where the home estate focuses on the lifted aromatic profile of Cortese and Barbera, the Tuscan site delivers warm-climate red fruit: Sangiovese for the structural backbone, Merlot for plushness, and Cabernet Sauvignon for the firm tannic spine that the Tuscan coast produces well. The lineup runs through Atos (Merlot-led Super Tuscan), Eklektos (Cabernet Sauvignon), Erastos (Cabernet-driven), Aristeo (Sangiovese), and Cletus (Sangiovese-Merlot blend), all under Toscana IGT.
The winemaking philosophy carries the La Bollina house style: stainless-steel ferments to preserve fruit, modest oak treatment kept to the higher-end labels, and accessible price-points designed to slot into the same UK retail tier as the Gavi range. Critics rate the Atos and Eklektos labels in the upper Super Tuscan secondary band, behind the Bolgheri DOC headliners but ahead of generic Toscana IGT producers.
For visits, La Bollina's hospitality structure runs from the Piemonte HQ rather than the Tuscan site. Trade enquiries and tasting requests typically go through La Bollina central in Serravalle Scrivia; the Corte Medicea estate is production-focused without a published public visit programme.
