Elderflower and lemon, the two notes on Pasqua's own sheet. Then apple, pear and melon, which 183 of the 500 written Vivino reviews mention. Behind them sits a touch of honey and almond that Majestic's buyers pick out.
Medium-bodied and very dry, with fresh acidity kept on purpose. Pasqua holds the wine cold in steel to stop the second, softening fermentation. A short rest on its yeast gives it a little weight. The few hours the juice spends on the skins add texture, not colour.
Clean and moderate in length, ending on lemon and a faint bitter almond.
Pasqua's Salento white from its Surani vineyards at Manduria, four miles from the Ionian coast, sold in the UK only by Majestic. On Vivino 2,428 ratings average 3.8 out of 5. The 2019 carried the site's top 5% badge. Drink it young and cold, at 10 to 12 degrees, with shellfish pasta.
Buying Pietrariccia: a Majestic exclusive
Majestic is the only UK shop selling it, at £13.00 a bottle or £11.00 each in any mixed six. The 2025 is on the shelf under natural cork. 162 Majestic customers have reviewed it and 91% would buy it again.
How Pietrariccia scores for food, value and everyday drinking
Four scores out of ten. It rates highest with food, then for someone new to Italian wine, then as an everyday bottle, and well on value at £11 in a mixed six.
Shellfish, fried starters, creamy pasta and fresh cheese all fit. Only red meat and hot chilli do not.
Dry, fresh and fruity, with nothing odd about it. A safe first Fiano at £11 to £13.
At £11 in a mixed six, 13% and no oak, this is a weeknight white.
£11 to £13 for a single-grape Salento white from Pasqua that drinkers rate 3.8 on Vivino.
A good glass with dinner, but not a bottle that marks an event.
No oak and a style built for freshness. Drink it within two or three years.
Scoring is rule-based and deterministic. The model and weightings are documented in our Wine Fit Score methodology.

Dry, fresh and 13%: what fits Pietrariccia
Pasqua's own matches are spaghetti allo scoglio, linguine alle vongole and shellfish. Majestic says creamy, rich pasta. Vivino's list is shellfish, vegetarian dishes and starters.
Shellfish pasta and mussels
Pasqua's own matches are spaghetti allo scoglio and linguine alle vongole. Shellfish is sweet and salty. A dry white with fresh acidity and no oak lets that sweetness through, and its lemon note does the job of a squeeze of citrus.
Try with: Fregula ai frutti di mare · Impepata di cozze · Cozze arraganate · Polpo alla pignata · More pairings →
Fried starters
Fried food leaves oil on the palate, and this wine's acidity scrubs it away between bites. Its light honey note also sits well with the crisp, sweet edge of anything fried.
Try with: Arancini · Gnocco fritto · Pizza Fritta · Frittata di maccheroni · More pairings →
Creamy and rich pasta
Majestic recommends it with creamy, rich pasta. The wine is medium-bodied rather than thin, so it does not vanish under a creamy sauce, and its freshness keeps the plate from feeling heavy.
Try with: Pasta alla carbonara · Pasta Cacio e Pepe · Trofie al pesto · Risi e bisi · More pairings →
Fresh cheese, tomato and herbs
Vivino lists vegetarian dishes and starters for this wine. Its elderflower and citrus notes sit close to the fresh, green side of basil, tomato and young cheese, so the glass carries on what is on the plate.
Try with: Insalata Caprese · Torta pasqualina · Focaccia di Recco · Pappa al Pomodoro · More pairings →
Oysters, prawns and smoked fish
Salt makes a dry white taste rounder and fruitier. This one has enough acidity to cut through smoked and potted fish and enough fruit to stand next to an oyster.
Try with: Oysters · Potted Shrimp · Scottish Smoked Salmon · Arbroath Smokies · More pairings →
Skip red meat and hot chilli
A dry, light white like this simply disappears next to steak or braised beef. Hot chilli does the reverse: it makes the wine taste thin and sour. Keep it for fish, vegetables and pasta.
Skip with: Fiorentina steak · Brasato al Barolo · Chicken madras · Szechuan beef · Pairing guide →
Keeping Pietrariccia: drink it young
Serve it at 10 to 12 degrees, as Pasqua suggests, and drink it within two or three years of the harvest. There is no oak and nothing to wait for.
Best in the years above; holds without falling over either side.
A short splash decant softens the first-pour edge and opens the aromatics.
No oak and a style built for freshness. Drink it within two or three years.
£13.00 is the lowest tracked offer for the current vintage and we have no signal of further discounting.

Common Questions
Fiano on its own, a southern Italian white grape. Pasqua grows it in its Surani vineyards at Manduria in Salento, on limestone and clay.
At Manduria, in the Salento peninsula of Puglia, about four miles from the Ionian coast according to Majestic. Vintus, Pasqua's US importer, dates the town's Greek settlement to 700 BC.
Elderflower and lemon, then apple, pear and melon, with a touch of honey and almond. It is very dry, medium-bodied and fresh. On Vivino 2,428 ratings average 3.8 out of 5.
Shellfish pasta such as spaghetti allo scoglio or linguine alle vongole, which is Pasqua's own suggestion. Majestic points at creamy pasta, and Vivino lists shellfish, vegetarian dishes and starters.
£13.00 a bottle at Majestic, or £11.00 a bottle in any mixed six. In the UK it is a Majestic exclusive.
Salento IGT. That is what the label and Pasqua's portfolio say. Majestic lists the region as Puglia, which is also right: Salento is the southern peninsula of Puglia.
