Tenuta Ribusieri farms Sangiovese and Vermentino at Cinigiano, in the Montecucco zone between Monte Amiata and the Maremma coast. It makes four wines, and three of them lend their names to the estate's own guest villas. Chiaranotte is the one white, a pure Vermentino, and Le Maciole is the Montecucco Rosso. The soils are volcanic, broken tuff and sandstone left by the old mountain. The labels tell the story, from the sun on Solaura to the moon on Chiaranotte. Each villa has three bedrooms and a shared heated pool.
The Ribusieri estate sits at Cinigiano, in the province of Grosseto, on slopes that run from Monte Amiata down towards the Ombrone valley. Amiata is an extinct volcano, and its long-ago activity left the soils here fertile and mineral, a crumbly mix of tuff and sandstone. The sea to the west and the mountain to the east soften the climate over the vines.
Chiaranotte, the one white, is pure Vermentino under Montecucco DOC, from vines planted in 2006 at about 160 metres. It is picked by hand in early September, fermented cool in steel, and stirred on its lees until March. Le Maciole is the Montecucco Rosso, also from 2006 plantings: four fifths Sangiovese with dashes of Petit Verdot and Syrah. Solaura is a pure Sangiovese under Maremma Toscana DOC, planted in 2009 on clay loam facing south-west. Sofialvento turns Sangiovese into a brut rose sparkler by the tank method.
The labels do the storytelling. The house logo draws the horizon line where Monte Amiata meets the Ribusieri stream. Solaura's circle stands for the sun. Chiaranotte is the clear night and its moon, a nod to the Etruscans, who lived by the phases of the moon. That lunar reference still matters in the vineyard today. The farming across the Sangiovese and Vermentino rows aims squarely at environmental sustainability.
The estate doubles as a place to stay. Three guest villas, named Chiaranotte, Sofialvento and Solaura, each offer three bedrooms and three bathrooms, a shared heated pool, private terraces and breakfast. The estate also hosts events and weddings. Visitors can get to know the labels at the winery itself, and a direct sales line handles cellar-door buying.
It is an easy base for exploring. Siena and the beach town of Castiglione della Pescaia are both about 46 kilometres away, and Montalcino, Pienza and Montepulciano all sit within a short drive.
