Deep Dives into Italian Wine

Italian Sweet Red Wine: the Fizzy Ones, the Still Ones and the Pretenders

Most Italian sweet red wine is fizzy and light: Lambrusco, Brachetto d'Acqui and a handful of local fizzes most people never meet. A few are still, rich and made from dried grapes, such as Recioto della Valpolicella and Primitivo di Manduria Dolce Naturale. And some famous reds only taste sweet. This guide sorts the three, explains the label words that say how sweet a bottle really is, and says what to eat with each.
