The delle Venezie DOC is north-east Italy's Pinot Grigio zone, spanning flat, Adriatic-cooled plains. The vines are around ten years old, trained low on wires and farmed for freshness.
Italian wine law sorts bottles into a pyramid. DOCG sits at the top: tightly drawn boundaries, prescribed grapes, mandatory ageing, government tasting before release. Off-dry. Strictly Wine's spec sheet places it at 3 on the dryness scale: a clear soft sweetness up front, then fresh citrus. It is sweeter than a Provence-style rosé but nowhere near a dessert wine.
Pinot Grigio grapes have coppery-pink skins. This wine spends about ten hours on those skins before pressing, which tints it pale pink and adds the red-fruit notes. Cool steel fermentation then keeps it fresh.
