Aziende Agricole Feudi di San Gregorio
Feudi di San Gregorio is the largest family-owned winery in southern Italy. It sits above the hills of Irpinia at Sorbo Serpico, in the province of Avellino. The Capaldo and Ercolino families founded it in 1986. Around 300 hectares of vineyard, about 420 football pitches, carry native Campanian grapes. Aglianico, Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo and Falanghina lead. The cellar, designed by the Japanese architect Hikaru Mori, opened in 2004. The business holds both Equalitas and B Corp sustainability certificates.

About Aziende Agricole Feudi di San Gregorio
The winery stands on the Cerza Grossa hilltop above Sorbo Serpico, an Irpinian village 35 minutes east of Avellino and about an hour from Naples. The Capaldo and Ercolino families launched Feudi in 1986 with a clear brief. They wanted to lift the quality of Campanian wine and put its native grapes back into the international conversation.
The vines split into more than 800 plots, some climbing to 700 metres. The soils mix clay and lime, so the grapes ripen late and slowly. That slow finish builds the structure the wines are known for.
Four Campanian names anchor the range. Taurasi DOCG and Irpinia Aglianico DOC lead the reds, drawing Aglianico from old plots that include the named Piano di Montevergine vineyard. Fiano di Avellino DOCG and Greco di Tufo DOCG carry the whites, joined by Falanghina del Sannio DOC and a Campania Rosato IGT made from Aglianico. The DUBL sparkling line arrived in 2004, advised by the Champagne maker Anselme Selosse. It applies the classic method to Greco and Falanghina, with 38 to 42 months on the lees.
The 2004 cellar was drawn by the Japanese architect Hikaru Mori. Massimo and Lella Vignelli designed the interiors and the artwork that still runs across the labels. The site is built for visitors as much as for production. A long barrel cellar holds the reds, and a herb garden and rose terraces sit above the vines. Ristorante San Gregorio serves Hirpinian cooking beside the wines, and the affiliated Borgo San Gregorio resort in the village offers rooms for guests who stay overnight.
Feudi is one of very few Italian wineries to hold both Equalitas certification, gained in 2021, and B Corp status, gained in 2022. It reports its impact every year under the Tenute Capaldo group. The vineyards keep weedkillers out of the rows and plant cover crops and herb gardens for biodiversity. Solar power and recycled water run through the cellar. The house draws on organic and biodynamic ideas, though the vines hold no organic certificate.
The range listed here spans Taurasi DOCG, Fiano di Avellino DOCG and Greco di Tufo DOCG. It reaches on to Falanghina del Sannio DOC, Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio DOC and Irpinia Aglianico DOC. Campania IGT bottles include the San Greg rosato and a Piedirosso. The family's Tenute Capaldo group also brings cross-region bottles under the Feudi label, including a Primitivo di Manduria from the Ognissole estate in Puglia.
