- Typical of Aglianico
Warm and round, savoury and fresh, yet intense. The spice from the nose comes back.
Fresh and savoury, with a touch of spice.
A bright, spicy Aglianico with less time in oak than Likos. An easy partner for meat and aged cheese.
Basilicata in five fields
A compact view of what the Basilicata denomination actually requires, and how this bottle sits inside it. Pulled from the official Italian disciplinare.
Braised and roast meat
The protein in braised beef or roast pork softens Aglianico's tannin, and the wine's spice suits slow-cooked sauces.
Try with: Beef braised in red wine
Aged cheese
A salty, aged cheese tames the tannin and brings out the red fruit. The producer suggests Caciocavallo from Basilicata.
Try with: Caciocavallo, or a mature Pecorino
Game
Game has the depth of flavour to match a warm, savoury red.
Try with: Venison stew
A short splash decant softens the first-pour edge and opens the aromatics.
Aim for the cooler end on a warm day; warmer end opens up more aromatics.
