- Typical of Pinot Grigio
Citrus is the note drinkers pick out most in this Breganze Pinot Grigio. Lemon and lime come first, then apple, pear and a little melon. A light floral touch sits on top.
It is very dry and light in body. At 12%, the minimum strength for a Breganze Superiore, it feels fresh rather than heavy. Crisp lemon runs through a soft middle of apple and pear.
The finish is crisp and refreshing, with a last note of lime. Some drinkers find a stony edge, which the Breganze rules credit to the zone's volcanic soils.
An easy everyday white from a co-operative of about 700 growers that makes over 70% of all Breganze DOC wine. Drinkers like it as a crisp, good-value Pinot Grigio rather than a complex one. Open it young, by the end of 2027.

Where Beato Bartolomeo Pinot Grigio Superiore fits best
Its top cards are Best everyday bottle and Best intro to this style. A light, very dry 12% white at £11 is easy to like and easy to afford.
A light, very dry 12% white at £11 that is easy to open on any weeknight. It needs no food planning and no time in the cellar.
A clear, classic Pinot Grigio: lemon, apple and pear, very dry, light and crisp. It is simple and easy to like, which makes it a good first Italian white.
At £11 it costs less than most of the Italian Pinot Grigio we list, and it is a DOC Superiore. The mixed-six deal at Majestic lowers the price per bottle further.
Its lemony freshness suits seafood, salads, light vegetable dishes and salty snacks. Its light body is easily swamped by rich meat or strong chilli.
An everyday co-operative white rather than a bottle for a celebration or a gift.
A young, fresh white under screwcap, best drunk by the end of 2027. Kept longer, its citrus fruit fades.

Perfect Pairings
Dishes that go with this wine
Food for a light, very dry Breganze Pinot Grigio
Lemony freshness and a light 12% body make this wine a match for seafood, spring vegetables and salty snacks. Venetian dishes such as baccalà mantecato and risi e bisi suit it well.
Salt cod, lagoon shrimp and peppered mussels
The wine's lemony freshness works like a squeeze of lemon on creamy salt cod and sweet little shrimp. A very dry, light Breganze Pinot Grigio keeps each mouthful tasting clean and lets the delicate seafood lead.
Try with: Baccala Mantecato · Polenta e schie · Impepata di cozze · More pairings →
Delicate white fish and shellfish
A light 12% white matches the gentle weight of steamed fish and shellfish, so neither swamps the other. The citrus in this Breganze Pinot Grigio lifts the sweetness of mussels and crab without hiding it.
Try with: Steamed sea bass · Mussels · Crab · Oysters
Spring peas, basil and fresh mozzarella
The wine's soft floral and apple notes sit easily with sweet peas, basil and fresh mozzarella. A light Breganze Pinot Grigio adds freshness without covering these mild, green flavours.
Try with: Risi e bisi · Insalata Caprese · Trofie al pesto · More pairings →
Fried fish and crispy seafood
Crisp acidity cuts through batter and frying oil, and the wine's citrus does the job of a lemon wedge. Served cold, a Breganze Pinot Grigio refreshes the mouth between salty, crunchy bites.
Try with: Fish and Chips · Salt and pepper squid · Prawn Tempura
Salty aperitivo snacks
Salt softens the edge of a very dry white and brings its apple and pear fruit forward. That makes this light Breganze Pinot Grigio an easy aperitivo with focaccia, fried dough and rice balls.
Try with: Focaccia · Gnocco fritto · Arancini · More pairings →
Fiery curries and chilli dishes
Strong chilli heat wipes out this wine's delicate lemon and apple fruit and leaves only sharpness. For hot food, a sweet, gently fizzy Italian white such as Moscato d'Asti copes far better than a very dry Breganze Pinot Grigio.
Skip with: Chicken madras · Chicken jalfrezi · Szechuan chicken · Som Tam · Pairing guide →

Common Questions
It is a light, very dry white with lemon and lime first, then apple, pear and a little melon. The finish is crisp and refreshing. At 12%, it feels light and fresh rather than rich.
It means riper grapes and a slightly stronger wine than plain Breganze Pinot Grigio. The rules ask for grapes with at least 11% natural potential alcohol and a finished wine of at least 12%. The standard version needs 10% and 11%. Superiore adds no ageing rule for Breganze whites.
It is made by Cantina Beato Bartolomeo da Breganze, a co-operative cellar in the town of Breganze, in Vicenza province. A group of 121 growers founded it on Valentine's Day 1950. Today about 700 members bring their grapes, and the cellar makes over 70% of all Breganze DOC wine.
No. Savardo is the cellar's Pinot Grigio Superiore from the Tenuta Savardo vineyard, bottled at 12.5% under its own label. This Superiore wears a different label, with a flower design, and is listed at 12%.
Majestic sells it at £11 a bottle. It is the only UK shop we track that stocks it, so there is no second price to compare. Majestic lists it as a Majestic Exclusive, and its mixed-six deal lowers the price per bottle.
Light fish, shellfish, vegetable dishes and salty snacks suit it best, and it works well on its own as an aperitif. Try it with Venetian baccalà mantecato, steamed sea bass or risi e bisi. Avoid fiery curries, which flatten its delicate fruit.
